In terms of build quality, this is a BPA-free mug made out of high-grade 18/8 stainless steel, so you won’t really have to worry about its durability. Unfortunately, it is available in a single color – burnished stainless steel – but hey, it’s four times cheaper than the Yeti Rambler 14 oz mug. Just like the other Yeti products I have analyzed in this comparison, the Rambler Mug also sports a very clean, modern, and appealing design.
The first thing I noticed on the Ozark Trail cooler was the handles – these are heavy-duty handles that are easy to grip. Another very durable part of this Ozark Trail cooler is its locking plate, which was manufactured from industrial stainless steel. First of all, this Yeti cooler features the so-called rotomolded construction, which makes it very durable. The proprietary Permafrost insulation of this Yeti cooler, on the other hand, helps with ice retention, while the Fatwall (another proprietary technology) design provides 2” of ice insulation.
However, the best thing about this affordable Ozark Trail cooler is the fact that it can hold ice for more than a week. One of the things that I was curious about was how well the lids performed. The locking lid and open mouth lids do seem to provide similar results when paired with the 22oz Tumbler, but I had one more text I wanted to run.
Due to its lower price, I expected this tumbler to sport poorer construction quality and performance, and…I was wrong. Ozark Trail 30 oz is actually a genuinely worthwhile competitor and a phenomenal choice for those on a budget. I’ve been using this particular tumbler for quite some time now and I absolutely love it. One reason the ice may have melted a little quicker in the Orca Chaser is the straight interior wall design. Both the Yeti and Ozark interior walls are wide at the top and neck down at the bottom, keeping the remaining ice in a smaller space.
You might have to wait closer to an hour for your hot drink to actually be drinkable (around 135°F). The water in the Yeti tumbler did cool down slightly slower than the Ozark Trail one, but not enough to cause a significant difference in experience between the two. After extensively reviewing the data from the travel logger, we found that—drumroll, please—the two tumblers performed exactly the same. I’ll pause for shock value, but there’s no real difference between the two other than the price tag and that the Yeti is dishwasher safe.
Look how cute these Ozark Trail 18 oz Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler with Handle are for just $9.98! This one is much more manageable for kids and comes in lots of fun colors, too. If you’re not concerned about the brand name that’s on the outside of the cup, most can agree that Ozark Trail is a MUCH better value for your money. Therefore, a cup that is sturdy, reliable, warm, cold and easy to carry is very important.
Today I immediately loaded it up and went out for a few hours. For water and OJ I use Vapur anti bottles which aren’t bulky at all. In the realm of insulated water bottles, discussions around Yeti and Hydrapeak often surface, highlighting the meticulous engineering and design philosophies of both brands. All three tumblers had melted at the same rate with 9 ounces of water drained from each tumbler. To help me understand what the Ozark Trail Thermos line from Walmart could do, I assembled a collection of sizes that I picked up in person at my local Walmart. In total I had 6 of their double wall vacuum insulated thermoses, ranging in size from the 10oz Tumbler up to the 32oz Tumbler.
The pavement temperature has fallen to 134.7deg but the external temperature of the tumblers has soared. The Yeti external temperature has risen to 126.5deg, the highest external temperature recorded all day. The Orca records a 123.2deg reading and the Ozark Trail has hit 124.8deg. The Yeti has now drained 16 ounces of water and the remaining ice is turning to slush. The Orca has drained 15 ounces and the Ozark Trail 14 ounces.
What is more, it is available in 20 different colors, so it’s pretty safe to say that there’s a color variant for everyone. One particular thing I have to point out about this model is that, out of all the travel mugs I ever reviewed, this one has a shape that is most similar to a regular coffee mug. The budget-friendly alternative to Yeti’s popular Rambler tumbler is ozark trail tumbler called Ozark Trail 30 oz.
Then I placed them on a table and waited for the ice to melt completely. This 32 oz Ozark Trail Tumbler is in my opinion the most versatile of the bunch. One of the main reasons that you are filling a thermos is to enjoy your beverage at the desired temperature over extended periods of time.
